A Florida man without a driver’s license was arrested in a road rage incident near Sherwood Road on February 8, authorities said. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) said he also had an outstanding warrant for failure to pay child support.

The accused, Blackie Alvarez, 33, now faces seven felony weapon charges. Around 1 p.m. on February 8, officers received a 911 call about a male pointing a firearm at people while traveling north on U.S. Highway 331 near Sherwood Road.

An officer from the DeFuniak Springs Police Department located the suspect and blocked his vehicle. The officer said Alvarez exited the vehicle, pulled a handgun from his waistband and placed it on top of the car.

Alvarez, who also had two metal knuckles in his pockets, refused to speak with the officer.

Alvarez is from Bonifay Fla., the county seat of Holmes County.

Man Arrested For Carrying Narcotics In Vehicle

In a separate incident in Walton County, Fla., the WCSO vice and narcotics investigators stopped a black-and-red moped for speeding.

The driver was identified as Todd Beeler, 45, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla. During the stop, authorities detected suspected narcotics in the vehicle.

A search of the moped revealed two small plastic bags with approximately 56 grams of a white crystal-like substance hidden under the seat. The bags were sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for testing.

The Walton County Sheriff's Office's K9 Kenny was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.

After analysis was complete, FDLE notified the sheriff’s office the substance tested positive for methamphetamine.

Investigators obtained a warrant for Beeler on trafficking in methamphetamine.

Earlier in February, Beeler was located and arrested. He was given a $25,000 bond and remained incarcerated at the time of the release. If convicted, Beeler faces a mandatory seven-year prison sentence.
