A Fort Myers woman was handcuffed by deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on allegations of assaulting a child. The youth football game at Brooks Park ended with an arrest after the woman attacked a player from the opposite team.

Later, in bodycam footage circulated from the moment she was arrested, the woman could be seen arguing with the officer. She resisted being detained and used foul-mouthed language after being charged for allegedly kicking and punching a 13-year-old boy.

Woman Resists Arrest After Being Accused Of Assaulting A Child

While 34-year-old Renee Lambert does not have a criminal history, she was booked by the Lee County Sheriff’s office after she stormed into the middle of a youth football match. She allegedly directed her fury at a child whom she then assaulted.

A report by the Sheriff’s office revealed that an ongoing Pop Warner football game came to an unexpected halt when Lambert beat up the player. Later, when she was arrested, bodycam footage clearly shows her aggression as she resisted the detainment and denied accusations.

She reportedly asked one of the deputies, “Are you mad at them for hitting me?” Lambert alleged that one of the kids was the first one to attack her with a helmet. To this, the officer responded that he was mad over an adult who attacked a kid. He emphasized that it was the main reason why the woman was getting detained at that moment.

Florida Mom Uses Foul Language On Officers During Arrest

An eyewitness to the incident, Kurtis Jones, stated that Lambert’s actions were surprising, given that her own son wasn’t even part of the game that afternoon. He had filmed the entire fight, which broke out between the two teams, and was subsequently escalated with the woman’s unexpected attack.

The video, from the moment of the attack, explicitly shows the woman running into the field when the two teams were already fighting. There were multiple instances of physical contact between the players, during which Lambert directly went in and attacked the player. She kicked him and even threw punches at his face.

Deputies arrived on the scene to control the fight and tried detaining Lambert after she hit the child. However, she fought back using a fierce and foul verbal exchange. The woman repeatedly shouted at the cops, stating “Get your hands off me”, while demanding that they call up player number nine, whom she had hit.

The Lee County Sheriff’s office arrested the Florida mom at about 8:50 p.m. She was charged with cruelty towards a child and resisting an officer. But they released her a little past midnight the next day. She is scheduled to make an appearance in court on June 1.

After the series of incidents following the woman’s attack on the child, Lee County Sheriff reinstated their zero tolerance policy over incidents where the safety and well-being of children are compromised.

Speaking to Gulf Coast News, Sheriff Carmine Marceno said, “It's sad that children playing sports become a physical confrontation. We need to have law and order. We need to protect everyone. So as sheriff, I'm not going to tolerate it.”
