A 60-year-old-man was found shot in the head at his home after a call for help and now police say they have arrested his suspected killer.
Around 2:45 a.m. on Feb.7, police in Daytona Beach, Florida, responded to a call for help at a Washington Street home. Officers arrived in minutes and found the victim’s body in a back bedroom.
Police say the victim was identified as Walter I. Lawrence.
Lawrence was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the home, according to Daytona Beach police.
Detectives investigated and on Feb. 9 announced they arrested Takendra M. Dawkins, 30, in connection to the case. It was not immediately clear if Dawkins knew the victim before the alleged killing.
Police said they are also working to determine the motive behind the slaying.
Dawkins was charged with first-degree murder and booked into Volusia County jail.
