A murder-suicide in Florida has claimed the lives of three people and wounded three others, including multiple children.
Around 1:40 a.m. June 7, Miami-Dade Police responded to an apartment building near Homestead Air Reserve Base after reports of shots fired, according to Detective Angel Rodriguez.
Officers discovered five people shot at the scene. The fatalities included a 38-year-old woman and her 15-year-old son. Among the injured are an 11-year-old girl, 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man.
The shooting suspect, who was the deceased woman’s boyfriend, was located nearby.
“As officers were attempting to negotiate with the subject, he committed suicide with a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Rodriguez said.
Police are trying to determine the familial ties between the victims.
The girl and boy were airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center while the adult male was taken to Jackson South Hospital, the Miami Herald reported.
