The owner of a home repair business operating in Florida raped one of his workers while on the job, police say, according to reports.
A woman told police that Amilcar Matute-Turcios, 41, sexually assaulted her at a home on Puerta Drive in Punta Gorda where they were working, according to Sun Port Charlotte.
Matute-Turcio admitted to police that he "felt like he raped" the woman, Wink News reports.
Police say Matute-Turcio's business, Amilcar Home Repair Services, was unlicensed, Sun Port Charlotte reports.
Major Crimes began investigating and got a search warrant for the home, where police found evidence that corroborated the woman's claims, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, according to Sun Port Charlotte.
Matute-Turcio was booked into the Charlotte County jail on Wednesday. Matute-Turcio, who is from Honduras, according to online jail records, had a detainer placed on him by the United States Customs and Border Protection, Sun Port Charlotte reports.
The couple that owns the home where the incident took place told Wink News that they just closed on the house this week. They said they hired Matute-Turcio to paint the home.
The couple was walking through the neighborhood when their realtor called to inform them that deputies had a search warrant for their home in connection to a crime. The couple told Wink News they were shocked.
The couple told police they had left the home to pick up paint at the time the crime took place, according to Wink News.
