A former youth gymnastics coach in New Jersey has been charged following accusations of sexually assaulting three athletes under his coaching during their youth in the 1990s, as well as in 2008, according to authorities.
On June 5, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office announced that 55-year-old Sasha Raught has been arrested and charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault and three counts of second-degree sexual assault.
According to prosecutors, Raught worked as a gymnastics coach for approximately 30 years in multiple locations around Monmouth County.
In the early to mid-1990s, prosecutors claim Raught was sexually involved with two teenage athletes he was coaching at Shrewsbury Gymnastics.
In 2008, more than a decade later, Raught reportedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a third underage victim while he was working at Jonas Gymnastics Academy in Marlboro, officials said.
Authorities said Raught was arrested at his home in late May and was booked into the Monmouth County Jail on May 24.
