Woman five-months pregnant stabbed by stranger in Georgia, baby delivered via emergency c-section

A Georgia man accused of stabbing a pregnant woman multiple times in front of her 3-year-old son is now in custody, police said
On June 5 around 5:30 p.m., the victim was walking with the toddler along the Peachtree Creek Greenway in Brookhaven when the suspect, Christopher Jones, 30, allegedly stabbed her several times in the back, the Marietta Daily Journal reported.
The woman's son was not injured in the attack.
A GoFundMe page set up by a family friend noted the victim was five-months pregnant and had to undergo an emergency C-section and surgery to repair damage to her organs.
“Both baby and mama are currently in stable condition,” the page reads. “Baby is currently in the NICU and mama is recovering. Although they are healing they have a long road ahead of them and a very prolonged hospital stay.”
According to the Brookhaven Police Department, Jones was booked into the Dekalb County Jail and is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and cruelty to children in the first degree — all felonies.
“Jones was identified by a tipster who recognized Jones from the photograph that was shared by our media partners,” police said. “That image was captured by Brookhaven city-owned security cameras placed along the Greenway.”
Officers tracked down Jones near the MARTA Arts Center station in Atlanta on June 10.
Lt. David Snively of the Brookhaven Police Department called the incident “horrific” and said Jones, who is homeless, was known to investigators and has mental health issues, according to the Marietta Daily Journal.
The suspect allegedly admitted to stabbing the woman.
