A 16-year-old Georgia girl was in jail on a murder charge but now faces charges for a second, unrelated killing from 2019, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Leslie Garcia-Juarez was arrested in late December for the shooting death of Adaph Aimable, 22, according to authorities.
These new charges are in relation to the murder of 19-year-old Osiel Montano in 2019, nearly one year earlier from the murder of Aimable, authorities said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation stated that Norcross, Georgia, police asked for help from them during their investigation of a homicide on Dec. 30, 2019.
According to the press release, Montano’s body was found in an abandoned apartment in Norcross. It was determined that Montano was dead from a single gunshot wound to the head.
In the press release, it states that Garcia-Juarez shot and killed Montano and then fled the scene back in 2019.
The new charges, related to a Decemebr 2020 shooting, against Garcia-Juarez are the results of a lengthy murder investigation, according to authorities.
For the Dec. 29, 2020 murder, police officers were called near Duluth, Georgia, after a report of a shooting inside a unit of an apartment complex, as reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Aimable was identified as the victim in that case.
Days later, Garcia-Juarez was arrested and was charged as an adult in Aimable’s death, authorities said.
While Garcia-Juarez was charged in the murder of Montano and aggravated assault, the investigation remains ongoing. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation asks anyone with information to contact them by calling 1-800-597-8477 or go online to submit information.
