The couple was using a camera to monitor a Labrador they were dog-sitting overnight, but what they discovered on the footage went beyond their expectations, according to Knewz.com.
The unsettling incident occurred while they were caring for Victoria's sister's year-old black Labrador "Kiwi."
On the morning of Thursday, September 21, the couple reviewed the footage from their dog camera to ensure that Kiwi had behaved herself. To their shock, the motion sensor had been triggered around 6:40 a.m. in their living room.
Instead of mere pet antics, the camera had recorded something far more disconcerting.
"Kiwi remained silent throughout the night, but in retrospect, we might have heard some whimpering. She spent most of the night in her bed, although on this particular night, she seemed to be avoiding something," Victoria told the Daily Star.
In the video, Kiwi can be seen moving about, seemingly chasing a tall, spectral figure that appeared to float above the door. The figure had a discernible head and shoulders and even cast a shadow on the wall.
This unexpected encounter left Victoria and Joe deeply unsettled, describing it as reminiscent of scenes from the movie Paranormal Activity.
Joe's departure for work left Victoria at home, prompting her to quip, "Cheers for showing me that and then leaving me here all alone and vulnerable."
Victoria and Joe have resided in their 135-year-old home for about six years. Although neither of them had previously held strong beliefs in the supernatural, this incident has left them questioning their skepticism.

Despite their initial doubts, the ghostly encounter has sparked their curiosity.
Victoria humorously noted, "We're both from a millennial generation, so we grew up with found footage films like that."
Victoria and Joe are now determined to unravel the mystery behind the spectral visitor captured by their camera. They have begun researching the history of their historic cotton mill home, hoping to shed light on the identity of the ghostly presence.
"Preston is a mill worker town in UK, so it's full of old streets and big terraced houses which belonged to the factory owners back in the day," Victoria explained.
Recalling an eerie incident from the day they moved in, Victoria shared, "I remember when we first moved in, my 2-year-old nephew and their family puppy were sitting halfway up the stairs. Both of them suddenly burst into tears simultaneously. The puppy began whimpering, and the baby started crying.
"They say that children and animals have a knack for sensing things, and at that moment, I couldn't help but think, 'Oh, wonderful, we've got a haunted house.' But in today's property market, beggars can't be choosers, can we?"
Their property, built in 1888, has a rich history, and the couple is eager to explore any connections that might explain the haunting.
Despite the eerie encounter, Victoria maintains a sense of fascination, saying, "It's pretty cool more than anything else. I've never had a bad experience - and I don't feel negatively towards the house at all."
