Glenview Teen Murder: Mom Of 16 Year Old Aghast As Her Daughter’s Killer Hasn’t Been Charged Since Two Months

Lilly Bova's mother, Christine Maga demands arrest and charging of the suspect
16-year-old Glenbrook South High School student Lilly Bova was murdered inside an unincorporated building in Glenview almost two months ago. Her body showed a visible gunshot wound, and despite attempts at resuscitation and CPR by paramedics, she could not be revived.
The murder was allegedly committed by another 16-year-old boy who reportedly knew Lilly well. Nearly two months after the tragic incident, her family says they are frustrated that authorities have not filed charges against the suspect. In a recent interview, Lilly’s mother also revealed what she described as a shocking decision by law enforcement.
Teenager’s Mother Demands Charges For Her Daughter’s Murderer
Speaking with ABC7 on Sunday, Lilly’s mother, Christine Maga, expressed concern that no charges had been filed against the teenage suspect accused of killing her daughter. The suspect, who is the same age as Lilly, reportedly turned himself in voluntarily after the incident. However, authorities later released him because of his age, according to the family.
Christine remarked, “Justice for Lilly Bell means holding this person accountable for their actions, someone she trusted, with no respect for her life, walking around and enjoying his.”
She remarked that the authorities have been given enough time to file charges, and that the pieces of evidence in the murder of her daughter were also clear. The grieving mother remarked that by allowing the suspect to walk freely, it clearly indicated the risks society could face if such a person were to be left roaming everywhere.
Christine expressed frustration with the hanging thread of justice for Lilly and added, “We know who has murdered my daughter, Lilly Bova. We have given them every single bit of evidence they are asking for. He came into my home, we have camera footage. I don’t understand the hold up. When you have every bit of evidence and this is a dangerous person, and you have the evidence to show he is dangerous, what is holding you back?”

Authorities Pacify Teenager’s Mother
In the wake of Christine Maga’s response and demand for clarification, the Cook County Attorney’s office has issued a statement. The authorities assured that the investigation into the murder case of Lilly Bova wasn’t over and that they would do everything in their power to uphold justice.
Their statement read, “The CCSAO is committed to seeking justice and accountability whenever a crime is committed. This case remains an active law enforcement investigation by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. As in all cases, charging decisions are made after a full review of evidence presented by law enforcement. We are unable to comment further on pending investigations.”
Glenbrook South High School Offered Condolences
The murder of Lilly Bova left a deep impact on the Glenbrook South High School community. Several of her classmates, teachers, and peers were left shocked at the incident. So far, authorities haven't been able to find a motive for the crime.
Barbara Georges, School’s principal, offered her condolences to the family and remarked, “Though Lilly was a quiet spirit, her teachers and those who knew her best said she loved deeply and was bright, positive and mature beyond her years. Her kind-hearted and optimistic nature will be sorely missed."
