In the early morning hours of July 15, a 66-year-old man was found dead in his room at the Homing Inn in Boynton Beach. According to police, the victim was bleeding from a wound to his head and it appeared he was robbed since his wallet and cell phone were gone and his pockets were turned out, states an arrest report obtained by WPEC.

A woman and man who rented the room where the man was found murdered had gone out to a local store and the woman recalled seeing three males heading toward the room where the incident occurred.

Investigators said they obtained surveillance video from the hotel that allegedly shows the suspects — later identified as Eduard Duarte Carmona, 24, Shawn Crosby, 28, and 34-year-old Erickson Durandisse — arrive at the room.

While one man knocked on the door, the two others stood off to the sides, the footage allegedly shows, according to police.

When the victim opened the door, the man knocking turned and walked away and the other two suspects entered.

Around a minute later, the two men fled the room carrying a backpack, ran down the stairs and into a car, police said in the report, claiming that at one point a suspect dropped what officers believe was a gun and had to stop to retrieve the object.

The woman who said she saw the men later identified Durandisse as the man who lured the victim to the door and Crosby and Carmona as the alleged robbers who entered, police said.

Detectives were able to find Durandisse in another room at the hotel, and he allegedly admitted his involvement in the robbery but claimed the “victim was never supposed to get hurt,” police wrote in the report.

When Duarte was apprehended, he allegedly claimed the gun fired by accident, police said.

All three men now face charges of pre-meditated murder as well as robbery with a firearm, according to police.
