Idaho couple charged with injury to child

Joshua Foster, 35, and Jessica Blair, 35, have been charged with felony injury to a child. According to court documents obtained by East Idaho News, the other individual claimed that the parents placed the toddler in a car seat on a daily basis.

The bizarre incident came to light after the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare found out that the couple was living in filth and squalor. Police were called to the scene on January 29. The subsequent search revealed that they have propped up their son in a car seat for days on end.

According to the aforementioned outlet, when police inquired about Blair and Foster about their son, they reportedly said, “In the car.” According to authorities, an extension cord was found running from the car to the home. A space heater, which was located in the vehicle, was plugged into it. A dog was also allegedly seen walking and stepping on the child.

The inside of their home was filled with filth. Large piles of feces, urine, trash, dirt, and cigarette butts were scattered on the floor with bug infestations and rotten food. The bedroom supposedly belonging to the 3-year-old had been turned into a living space for six pets. Cops found an animal and dog beds inside, surrounded by feces and puddles of urine.

Idaho couple found living in feces-filled home

The horrid living conditions of the couple led police to the car behind their home, where they discovered the child in a soaking wet T-shirt and a diaper that had been falling apart. Police believe that he had the same diaper on for multiple days. The car seat was also soaked and stained. The toddler also had severe rashes on his groin and inner thighs. According to court documents, police believe that it was caused by sitting in the car seat for a long time.

The toddler was taken from their custody by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (IDHW). On April 9, when investigators returned to the home to see if they were eligible to regain custody, they found the couple’s living conditions even more horrifying than before.

According to court documents, there was more feces on the floor and even more animals than before. According to court records, at least 33 animals were removed from the home previously.

Blair and Foster are now set to appear in court on May 1 for a preliminary hearing. Aside from the child injury charge, they were also charged with animal cruelty.
