Inside Lindsey Lohan’s Legal Troubles, DUI Arrests, And Substance Abuse

Lindsey Lohan was embroiled in legal troubles in late 2000s
From one of Hollywood’s brightest young stars to becoming one of the fallen ones, Lindsay Lohan’s rise to fame was a rollercoaster journey. The Mean Girls star had a few too many run-ins with law enforcement throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s.
Lohan was constantly in the news headlines, not because of her work, but because of legal troubles, substance abuse, probation violations, etc. In May 2007, the first news of her encounters with law enforcement arrived.
Lohan’s Run-Ins With The Law Began In 2007
Lindsey Lohan's first legal trouble began in 2007
At that time, she was arrested in Beverly Hills on suspicion of driving under the influence. According to reports, authorities also discovered cocaine in her possession following the arrest. Just two months later, in July 2007, she was arrested once again in Santa Monica. Lohan was charged with DUI, cocaine possession, and driving with a suspended license. However, this was just the beginning of a dark period in her life.
In August 2007, Lindsey Lohan pleaded guilty to misdemeanor cocaine charges and reckless driving. Initially, she was sentenced to one day in jail. However, as the California jails were overcrowded at that time, she was out after staying behind bars for only 84 minutes.
Lohan was also sentenced to four days of community service and ordered to complete an alcohol education program. In the following years, her legal troubles really escalated. Her probation was extended in 2009 after she failed to complete the court-ordered alcohol education classes.
In 2010, a judge issued a warrant for her arrest after the actress failed to turn up for a mandatory court hearing. She was attending the Cannes Film Festival at that time and claimed that her passport had been stolen.
In 2010, she was sentenced to 90 days in jail once again for violating probation terms from her earlier convictions. However, she spent about two weeks behind bars due to an overcrowding issue.
Lohan Was Accused Of Jewelry Theft
Lindsey Lohan has finally reformed herself and returned to the spotlight
In 2011, a new legal trouble overshadowed her past run-ins with the law. Lohan was accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry store in Venice, California. She was sentenced to 120 days in jail and community service after pleading no contest to misdemeanor theft charges.
This was not the end of it, as Lohan repeatedly faced legal troubles for failing to comply with court orders and committing several violations. In 2013, she was once again back in court for a car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway.
Lohan accepted a plea deal for reckless driving and agreed to spend 90 days in rehab, attend psychotherapy sessions, and perform community labor. Despite a long history of legal troubles, Lindsey was able to reform herself.
In recent years, she has managed to rebuild her public image, returned to the screen, and has even been focusing on her personal life as well.
