Last month, Damon was charged by Windermere police in Florida with DUI and resisting an officer without violence. His wife, Michelle Mangan-Damon, was also charged in the same incident with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence.

Both of their criminal cases remain active.

On March 9, Windermere police released the body cameras footage from the incident to several media outlets, including FrontPageDetectives. The video starts as an officer tries to stop the car after several traffic violations.

After the police officer pulled Damon over, he opened the driver’s side door, and his wife exited the vehicle. The officer told Johnny to close the door and turn the car off, and he complied. He asks Johnny why his wife exited the car, and Johnny said, “Oh, because we saw you following us.”

The officer said, “Yeah, it’s a traffic stop. You don’t get out of the car at a traffic stop.”

Johnny countered with, “What traffic stop?”

The officer asked, “Do you see the police lights?”

Mangan-Damon exited the SUV again, while the officer drew a weapon and insisted that she stay in the vehicle. Johnny Damon attempted to step between his wife and the officer.

When Mangan-Damon walked past to the back of the car, the officer grabbed her arm, to which she immediately responded with, “don’t touch me.”

Mangan-Damon walked away, and the officer asked Johnny Damon to turn around. The officer asked for help detaining Mangan-Damon as other cops arrived at the scene. Both of them were put in handcuffs.

A video from a different officer shows that cop trying to put Mangan-Damon in handcuffs and she appears to take a swing at him.

In the rest of the footage, Mangan-Damon remains in handcuffs as she tells the officer to look at their license plate and that she has to return home to their kids.

At one point, Mangan-Damon can repeatedly be heard saying, “blue lives matter.”

“We are good people,” Johnny Damon said. “We are good people.”

The officers took the couple into custody as they arrange for the vehicle to be towed. The officers then put Johnny Damon through a series of field sobriety tests before taking them to the station for their booking.

After being released from jail, Johnny Damon apologized for his actions, according to numerous media reports.

“I apologize and hopefully I can answer more questions later on,” Damon told reporters.
