Kristi Noem Grilled on ‘Affair’ With Corey Lewandowski as Husband Looks On

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was questioned in front of Congress on March 5 about her alleged affair with top aide Corey Lewandowski. However, the affair was not denied by Noem during the dramatic testimony, and she criticized the questioning.

The House Judiciary Committee questioned Noem on March 5. Lawmakers asked her about an alleged "s----- relationship" with her adviser Corey Lewandowski. Her husband, Bryon Noem, joined her at the hearing and sat behind Noem as lawmakers prepared their questions. Bryon, however, was not present when lawmakers asked directly about the alleged affair as he had left the hearing early to catch a flight.

Democratic Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove asked Noem, who was placed under oath, whether she was having an affair with Lewandowski.

Noting the "unchecked" power Lewandowski possessed, Kamlager-Dove asked, "At anytime during your tenure as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, have you had s----- relations with Corey Lewandowski?"

Noem refused to answer the question directly. Instead, she dodged the question a couple of times, calling the questioning "garbage."

Noem said." I am shocked that we are going down and peddling tabloid garbage in this committee today."

She added, "I would tell you that he is a special government employee who works for the White House. There are thousands of them in the federal government."

Kamlager-Dove pushed back, saying, "You should be able to answer if someone asks if you or any federal officer is sleeping with a subordinate. It's the easiest. You should want to answer that question."

She added, "It is about your judgment and decision-making. It is about a conflict of interest. It is about a national security risk."

"It is garbage," Noem said.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz repeated the allegation, and Noem again did not deny the affair. "I really think you should say the word 'no' for the records so that you can clear that up," Moskowitz said.

Noem replied, "I think the ridiculousness of this and the tabloids that you are quoting and referencing are insane. This is a thing I have refuted for years."

"Is that a no?" Moskowitz asked.

Noem blasted him as a member of the "liberal left", saying, "This is what you do." "You say conservative women are stupid or s***s, I am neither."

Corey Lewandowski, the man in question, is a special U.S. government employee and one of the top advisers to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Lewandowski was Donald Trump's first campaign manager in 2016 and remains one of his vocal supporters. In March 2016, Lewandowski faced allegations that he mishandled a Breitbart reporter.

He later became a close associate of Noem, then governor of South Dakota, helping her gain access to the president's political orbit.
