A Florida landlord was arrested in connection to the murder of his tenant following a backyard get-together by the pool, police said.
Samuel Omar Gonzalez, 34, is charged with the second-degree murder of Armando Alvarez, who rented an efficiency with his girlfriend next to the suspect’s home in Miami, WFOR-TV reported.
Around 10 p.m. on July 23, officers responding to a report of a shooting at the property found Alvarez, 27, suffering a fatal gunshot wound to the head inside his residence.
According to investigators, Gonzalez and Alvarez got into a dispute at the gathering, and the landlord slapped his tenant.
Alvarez, his girlfriend and a friend returned to the efficiency after the incident, but Gonzalez went into their home and shot Alvarez dead before getting into a BMW 320i and driving away, police said.
Gonzalez was located in his car the following day.
He was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
