Vargas was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said Vargas got into a physical fight with 51-year-old Roman Ramirez over a pet.

According to an arrest report obtained by KSNV-TV, Ramirez initially went to the home to pick up a dog he shared custody of with his ex-girlfriend.

During that visit, Ramirez allegedly pushed Vargas multiple times. Vargas reportedly fell to the ground and into a palm tree and sustained multiple abrasions as a result.

Later that day, officers located and arrested Ramirez. While talking with police, Ramirez claimed Vargas had punched him, so he allegedly pushed the victim.

Police then told Ramirez that Vargas had died and showed him video evidence that conflicted with his statement. Ramirez told police, “Then book me for murder and take me to County [Detention Center].”
