A man in Las Vegas has been arrested and accused of killing his wife, cutting off pieces of her hair and using nail clippers to injure her, according to authorities.

Shortly after 10 a.m. on March 11, officers were dispatched to an apartment regarding the death of a woman, later identified as Latonia Clark, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers determined the death “did not appear natural” and they informed homicide detectives, officials said.

According to KLAS-TV, the victim had cuts on her face, likely from nail clippers, and it “appeared as though someone had beat her, causing damage to her face.” I

Police also said hair on parts of the woman's head had been shaved off.

Latonia’s husband, Anthony Clark, 39, initially claimed his wife was out all day and “came home all bloody” around 7:00 p.m. on March 10, police said. He told police he went to check on her the next morning, which is when he found her “on the ground” and “ not moving," according to officials.

A family member returning home claimed to hear fighting in Latonia’s room and “loud stomping noises,” KLAS-TV reported. After hearing the loud noises, the family member told police they saw Anthony come out of the bedroom and close the door.

Another family member also heard Anthony and Latonia arguing early in the morning on March 11, officials said, adding a witness told investigators they “heard Taser sounds coming from the bedroom.”

Detectives found a trash bag in the bedroom that contained human hair as well as sweatpants covered in blood stains. Detectives stated Latonia was found “in a defensive posture” and parts of her head were shaved, police said.

“There also were numerous cuts and bruises," police said. "It appeared as though some of her injuries were caused by some nail clippers. She also had cuts and bruising to her face. It appeared as though someone had beat her, causing damage to her face."

Latonia’s cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force injuries, officials said.
