Special needs child found naked in a home and covered with feces, police said

A special needs 5-year-old boy was found covered in feces and naked in a Louisiana home. Now, the child’s caregiver faces charges, police said.
This week, deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Sulphur, Louisiana, for a welfare check of the child.
When deputies arrived, they found the boy naked in the home, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities learned his guardian left him in the care of a disabled adult who could not supervise the child.
The child was covered in feces and the home was in “deplorable conditions,” according to the sheriff’s office. That included human and animal feces everywhere. The deputies could also not find any clothes for the child in the home.
A few hours after deputies arrived, Ouida Whatley, 42, the child’s caregiver arrived at the home, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies arrested her and charged her with cruelty to juveniles.
She was booked into jail and her bail was set at $50,000.
The child was released to a family member.
