At a press conference, Jackson Police Deputy Chief Deric Hearn said driver Brandy Littrell picked up a man, who was identified as Dontarius Magee, at Spring Lake Apartments in Byram on Nov. 2.

Littrell drove Magee to Advantage Apartments in Jackson, Mississippi, before he pulled a gun on her, making her get in the backseat of the Dodge Journey and asking for money, according to authorities.

Magee drove them to another location and made Littrell get out of the vehicle and he drug her into the woods nearby before shooting her multiple times. He then took her car and phone, police said.

However, Littrell dragged herself out of the woods and went to a nearby apartment complex to look for help, officials said. A resident found her and called 911.

Littrell told WLOX, “I don’t want my family to not know what happen to me. And so I’m like crawling out of the woods, and get enough strength to stand up.”

She was taken to the hospital and was treated for injuries to her leg, arm, back, stomach and breast and is now recovering, police said.

Officials said Magee was found and arrested. He was charged with carjacking, kidnapping and aggravated assault.
