An Ohio man has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend and calling police to report the shooting. At approximately 2 a.m. on February 10, Montgomery County Regional Dispatch received a call from 34-year-old Jayme Rogers, who said he had just shot his girlfriend, 33-year-old Jaime.
Rogers allegedly believed that Jaime was cheating on him and shot her three times in a car outside her home in the 4700 block of Queens Avenue in Dayton. He then called 911 and cited Jaime’s alleged infidelity as the reason. He said on the call, “Get here quick, someone is shot. [She] got what she deserved.”
Rogers Confessed to Shooting His Girlfriend to the Police
Rogers initially told dispatchers his girlfriend was still alive and needed medical attention. However, he later said she had probably died. Rogers also said he was armed and ‘not going out without a fight.’
When first responders arrived, they found Jaime unresponsive inside her running car with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said she had been shot from the passenger-side window. Officers also recovered bullet casings from the street and the sidewalk. Jaime was transported to Miami Valley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities said Rogers repeatedly told officers he shot Jaime because he believed she had cheated on him. He was taken into custody and arraigned on the afternoon of February 12. He has been charged with murder and is being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
Rogers also faces charges of felonious assault, discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises, and possessing weapons while under disability. The Dayton Municipal Court set his bond at $1 million and scheduled his next hearing for February 20.
