A Walmart Supercenter in Las Vegas was the site of a complex theft case that turned fatal. A car owner who apparently dozed off inside his car woke up to find a stranger trying to steal it while he was still in the passenger seat.
On Saturday, April 11, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a report of a traffic incident involving serious injuries. They arrived to find that a black Hyundai Sonata had crashed into a boulder, killing the car owner.

During a press briefing, the head of LVMPD, Lt. Rodriguez, explained the details of the bizarre incident. It happened at around 11 a.m., close to the 4400 block of West Charleston Boulevard. The crashed car was owned by a man in his 30s, who, on the day, was napping inside the vehicle right outside the Walmart store.
Reportedly, a female family member was said to have been shopping inside. The victim, who was left in the car, dozed off, keeping the engine of the car running and doors unlocked.
It was suddenly then that a 50-year-old man allegedly entered the unlocked car in the parking lot and began driving it at a high speed out of the parking lot. The dozing car owner was still in the front passenger seat of the car at that time.
Meanwhile, the stranger drove the stolen Hyundai car straight up and rammed it into a silver minivan parked nearby. The van began spinning out as a result, while the suspected criminal ended up crashing the car into a pole and a boulder nearby.

The silver minivan, which the stolen car crashed into, had two occupants. While the driver sustained minimal injuries, the passenger was left unharmed. Both were taken to the nearest hospital for a thorough medical examination, nonetheless.
When the cops arrived, they discovered that the reported incident was much more than just one traffic accident. It involved two sturdy vehicles damaged in a high-speed collision, while one of the victims of the accident was fighting for his life.
Suspect stole car and then crashed it, resulting in death of passenger
The man inside the stolen car died after the crash. He was rushed to the hospital by first responders due to his serious injuries. However, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to the LVMPD chief, the suspect was not aware that the car owner was still in the passenger seat when he attempted to break into the vehicle. She described the incident as a crime of opportunity, before adding, “The man in the passenger seat woke up to another man essentially kidnapping him.”
The suspect who attempted to kidnap as well as engaged in the theft of the car was arrested and is facing charges. As per Rodriguez, the man was still in custody and is likely to be pressed with charges of murder. She furthermore informed that the accused had a very long and extensive history of criminal charges in the past.
However, the authorities refused to divulge details about the identities of the victim and the suspect. The case is still under investigation, and only further evidence could firmly shape it up into a matter that could be presented at the court for justice. The LVMPD has so far not issued any more statement on the case in question.
