According to authorities, the victim was returning home from the gym. As she reached the garage and entered a code, she felt a sharp pain on the right side of her face. Police said Sedhom was in a car parked across the street, waiting for her to return home. Although the motive is unclear, investigators said there may have been a dispute between the siblings regarding the temperature of the house.
After searching the home, officers found a hunting arrow lodged in the wall of the garage. During a further search inside the house, officers recovered a box from Shedhom’s bedroom that contained the crossbow which was allegedly used in the attack. Police also seized a samurai sword and a laptop. Sedhom was arrested without incident.
Court documents indicate that Sedhom admitted he shot his sister and had planned to do so for months. However, according to report by News 13, Sedhom’s lawyers argued in court the incident was a prank gone wrong and there was no intent to kill. Sedhom has pleaded not guilty.
According to WABC, a neighbor said “Families have problems just like everyone else, I don't know all the details, but it might have been an argument that went too far”.
Following his arraignment in Nassau District Court, Sedhom was asked to be held without bail in Nassau County Jail and directed to stay away from his sister.
