Man Police Say Killed Two People He Was Living With Before Fleeing Georgia Arrested


A who police say killed the two people he was living with before fleeing Georgia wa arrested recently in Missouri.
The Winder (Georgia) Police Department announced Thursday that it, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Athens office and Kansas City police, has Martell Lamont Scott, 25, in custody.
He is charged with killing Christina Smith, 30, and Marcus Gardner, 29. Police say he had been living with the two for several weeks before the homicide.
Scott, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested there March 14 on a theft by taking motor vehicle warrant. He was driving Gardner's Ford Escape, which he took off in following the murders, according to police.
An investigation found that Scott left Smith and Gardner's home at the time of the homicides. A Winder detective and GBI agent went to Kansas City last week when Scott was arrested to investigate, police say.
On March 18, officers obtained warrants to charge Scott with two counts of murder, two counnts of felony murder and one count of possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime. He was taken back to Georgia and is in custody at the Barrow County Detention Center
