Man Who Backed Toyota Tacoma Over Ex-Girlfriend’s Head Prisoned For Three Weekends

Netizens go angry as they criticise the 10-day prison time for Cameron Boucher, who drove over his ex's head
A former corrections officer from Washington was sentenced to spend three weekends in jail after pleading guilty in a drunk-driving case that left his ex-girlfriend with serious head injuries, according to court records.
The sentence means the former officer will serve a total of 10 days in custody, with the incarceration carried out over consecutive weekends rather than through a continuous jail term.
Cameron Boucher, 23, pleaded guilty on May 15 to vehicular assault DUI and reckless driving in connection with a January 2025 incident in Pierce County. According to The Tacoma News Tribune, prosecutors had recommended that Boucher receive no additional jail time beyond the two days he already served following his arrest.
A Pierce County Superior Court judge ultimately sentenced him to 10 days in jail, to be served over three weekends.
Police and court documents stated that the victim suffered facial fractures and other serious injuries after Boucher allegedly backed his Toyota Tacoma over her head while reversing.
In a victim impact statement, the woman wrote: “My scalp had been dragged across concrete. My left ear was done up. Bruises covered my legs. A deep laceration on the right side of my head required nine staples. I couldn’t work for over a month.”

According to investigators, both Cameron Boucher and the victim had reportedly been drinking on New Year’s Eve before the incident occurred. A witness told police that the woman fell behind Boucher’s truck as he reversed the vehicle.
The friend alleged that Boucher continued backing up even while the victim screamed. “Boucher continued to back over her head,” court documents stated.
Investigators said the witness yelled and struck the truck window in an effort to get Boucher’s attention before he eventually moved the vehicle forward slightly. The friend then reportedly pulled the injured woman out from beneath the truck.
Authorities also said another person at the scene chased Boucher, fought with him and restrained him until officers from the Tacoma Police Department arrived. Police stated that Boucher had allegedly consumed liquor shots at a nearby bar before the crash.
The sentence later sparked criticism online. One social media user reacted by writing, “Unbelievable! They're going to wait until he kills someone before they actually lock him up.”
The Accused Was A Former Deputy Before the Arrest

At the time of the incident, Boucher worked as a probationary corrections deputy in Pierce County. The County officials later removed him from the position after his arrest.
Defence attorneys and prosecutors argue that the victim had been a willing participant and helped initiate the events leading up to the incident. That claim was part of the reason prosecutors did not seek more jail time, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.
Still, the victim told the court that Boucher should have known better because of his law enforcement role.
“He wasn’t just some guy out partying,” she wrote. “He was a law enforcement officer in training. A correction, deputy. He knew the law. He knew what DUI meant. And he broke that law anyway.”
“He chose to gamble with someone else’s life,“ she added.
