Tyler Brown, the alleged gunman who opened fire on a busy Massachusetts street, was arraigned on May 14. However, Brown appeared semi-conscious during the court proceeding, which he attended from a hospital bed.

The shooting left two men with life-threatening injuries. Brown was also shot and subdued by authorities before being taken to a hospital for treatment. Kristina Rex shared a 14-second video showing Brown receiving treatment for his gunshot wounds.
The clip showed Brown lying in a hospital bed surrounded by his attorneys. His head appeared slumped to one side, and he did not visibly respond while his lawyers spoke to him. He appeared to be in a semi-conscious state.
Once Brown is discharged from the hospital, prosecutors said he will face two counts of armed assault with intent to murder and weapons charges. Authorities said Brown, who has a lengthy criminal history, had been scheduled to meet with his parole officer before allegedly opening fire on the busy roadway.
At about 1:06 p.m. on May 10, Cambridge Police Department received an alert from the Boston Police Department regarding an active shooter situation. When officers arrived, investigators said Brown was firing erratically at random vehicles, striking at least a dozen of them, including a United States Postal Service truck and a Massachusetts State Police cruiser.

The scene quickly descended into chaos as drivers abandoned their vehicles in panic. Authorities said the situation was eventually brought under control after a Massachusetts State Police trooper and an armed Marine veteran confronted Brown. They opened fire, striking and subduing him before he was taken to a hospital.
Witnesses said the busy roadway became chaotic within minutes. One driver told WBZ-TV, “Got out, walked up to the car in front of me to my coworker to see what was going on. Saw the dude in the street lifting [the gun] up at me.”
He added, “I dipped back into my car and ducked behind my dashboard. My buddy got out; he ran for it. A state trooper pulled up directly on the side of me, got out, got behind his car right in front of my driver’s side mirror, and got in the gunfight with him.”
Marian Ryan said, “This incident occurred, as I said, on a very busy part of the afternoon, with lots of people there; clearly, people’s lives were at risk. What happened today cannot stand.”
