Tennessee Duo Who Police Say Were Involved In Shooting Over Gun Deal Arrested

Two people who police say were involved in a shooting in Memphis, Tennessee that left one dead and targeted a total of five were arrested, according to WMC.

Andrew Jones, 18, and Valencia Vasquez, 24, are both facing multiple charges after the shooting left one dead and another injured.

Vasquez, who admitted to being the getaway driver, was charged with facilitation of second-degree murder and four counts of attempted second-degree murder. Jones, who police determined was the shooter, was charged with second-degree murder, four counts of attempted second-degree murder and four counts of possessing a firearm while committing a dangerous felony, according to WMC.

WMC reported that on Aug. 29 just after midnight police responded to a shooting in the area of James Road and North Hollywood Street, where they found a car of five people, including two with gunshot wounds.

According to police, the group of five drove to a Shell gas station located at 2711 Rangeline Road to meet someone to buy a gun.

According to WMC, police say Jones was sitting in the passenger seat of a Chevy Impala with Vasquez in the driver's seat. After a victim gave Jones money for the gun, the couple drove off with the money.

WMC reported that the five people in the other vehicle followed the Impala in attempt to retrieve their money, and Jones began shooting at their car with a rifle before the couple sped off.

On Aug. 31, Memphis' Multi-Agency Gang Unit took Jones and Vasquez into custody at the Garden Apartments on Tillman Street.
