Michigan man tried to grab an aluminum bat to attack employees trying to stop him from eating food off shelves.

A man in Michigan walked into a party store and started eating food on the shelves before he allegedly attacked the employees who were trying to stop him, according to police.

Around 2 p.m. on Sept. 29, officers were called to a party store in Ann Arbor regarding a report of an assault, MLive reported.

According to officials, a 54-year-old man, whose name has not been released, entered the business and began opening packages of food located on the shelves and eating the contents.

Two employees, ages 36 and 57, demanded the man leave the store, but he failed to comply, MLive reported.

Istead, he started allegedly punching the older employee.

The suspect also attempted to grab an aluminum baseball bat that was stored behind the counter, police said.

Officials said the younger employee was able to restrain the man on the ground until officers responded to the scene.

Both employees reportedly suffered minor injuries during the scuffle, but they declined medical treatment.

The suspect was arrested and booked into the Washtenaw County jail on one count of assault and battery.
