Missing Long Island Wife Jumped From Moving Car, Threw Phone in Bush — Family Fears She's in Danger

Brittany Kritis was last seen in Oyster Bay on March 20 after reportedly fleeing a moving car in a panicked state.
A Long Island woman’s family hired a private investigator after she reportedly jumped out of a moving car, threw her phone into a bush, and disappeared.
Brittany Kritis, 32, was last seen in Oyster Bay around 8 p.m. on March 20. She was reportedly wearing black pants and a black jacket with a fur collar.
According to her husband Fernando Garip, she appeared to be in a panicked state before running away.
Kritis is 5’7”, approximately 140 lbs and is described as white with brown hair and brown eyes. Her family said she was disoriented and frightened on the day she went missing and believes she is in danger.
Her last confirmed sighting was on video at 8:14 PM on McCouns Ln.
Details of the Investigation
The family’s investigator is canvassing surrounding areas, reviewing leads and coordinating search efforts with law enforcement.
“We’ve been combing wooded areas, rural areas, suburban areas, everything. So we're just asking for the public’s help here. We really need the public’s help to locate her,” Garip said. “We’re going to be at this until she’s home. I don’t care what we have to do, what needs to be done.”
The Nassau County Police Department deployed helicopters and drones several times as part of the ongoing search.
Kritis’ close friend, Sarah Castor, said on Facebook that her wallet was found near the end of Florence Avenue in a marshy, sandy area by the shore on March 23, 2025. “Based on this, the family believes she may still be within close proximity to this area,” she said.

‘Seeing Her Like This is Heartbreaking’
Family members urged people in nearby areas to search their properties, including yards, garages and sheds. They also asked people to stay alert near train lines and stations and contact law enforcement with any information.
“Brittany is not just a name on a post—she’s my sister, my family, someone who is deeply loved. She has the kindest heart, and seeing her like this is heartbreaking. I can’t explain how hard it is not knowing where she is or if she’s okay. I just want her safe and back home with us,” Brittany Kristis’ brother, Anthony Kritis, said.
“She may be hungry, thirsty, and trying to find somewhere safe,” he added. “Help me bring my sister home.”
Anyone with information on Brittany Kritis’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Nassau County Police Department Missing Persons Squad at 516-573-7347.
