He Was Upset His Wife Got Pregnant. So, He Had An Affair And Killed Her.

A Missouri man murdered his wife after she searched on the internet on “what to do if your husband is upset you’re pregnant.”

Now, he will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Recently, a St. Louis County judge handed Beau Rothwell a life term in prison without the possibility of parole for the battering death of his wife, Jennifer Rothwell, 28. The 31-year-old Creve Coeur, Missouri, resident was found guilty and convicted by a jury of first-degree murder, abandonment of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

"There’s certain relationships that are supposed to be sources of comfort and security and someone should certainly feel safe with their husband of all people and so it’s a tragedy when anyone loses their life but in this manner obviously it’s a little different," said St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell, according to KSDK.

On Nov. 11, 2019, Rothwell admitted that he killed his wife during a heated argument. The defendant claimed Jennifer, who was six weeks pregnant at the time, had caught him cheating and demanded to know the other woman's name. When he refused, words were exchanged, then Jennifer informed him the child was not his, as FrontPageDetectives previously reported.

As a result, Rothwell flew into a rage and clobbered her in the head from behind with a mallet. As she staggered towards the garage door, he struck her a second time, cracking her skull before she fell down the stairs.

Bfore to the fatal incident, Rothwell had reported his wife missing to authorities, who later embarked on a search for the victim. Some of the search parties included her family members and colleagues from her workplace.

However, investigators were not convinced, and the result of an intensive search of the couple’s home revealed a blood and bleached soaked carpet.

After test samples of the blood matched the victim, the defendant was immediately arrested and later led authorities to Jennifer’s body 45 miles from their home. In addition, investigators discovered prior to the homicide Jennifer had searched on her Google platform with her phone about “what to do if your husband is upset you’re pregnant.”

Despite his admission, Rothwell claimed it was not intentional and plans to appeal his sentence. The defendant believes there were no elements of premeditation; hence, he should have been convicted on a lesser charge of manslaughter.

However, prosecutors argued Rothwell was a planner. They retrieved a notebook found by his boss at his workplace indicating the pros and cons of dissolving the marriage. Part of the cons included losing half of his assets and possibly getting another job. As a result, prosecutors believe the killing was premeditated.

During the sentencing phase, Rothwell apologized to his wife’s family.

“To Jennifer’s family, words cannot describe how sorry I am. This should have never happened,” said Beau Rothwell, reported New York Post.

A paternity test later confirmed Rothwell was the father of the baby.
