Litter Thug: Missouri Man Armed With Pitchfork and Pickax Accused of Throwing Trash in Street, Attacking Person Who Tried to Pick Mess Up

A man in Missouri is facing multiple charges after he allegedly attacked several people with a pickax, shovel and other instruments, according to authorities.
On April 10, police responded twice to an area in Springfield and both incidents involved 47-year-old Michael Campbell, according to KOLR-TV.
Between 7:04 and 7:40 p.m. on April 10, Campbell is accused of hitting someone with a shovel after they tried to clean up trash he threw in the street. Two people attempted to stop Campbell, but he allegedly threatened them, KOLR-TV reported.
Campbell and one of the victims got into a physical altercation, and Campbell punched the victim in the head, authorities said.
KOLR-TV reported that Campbell allegedly tossed trail mix in the road and swung a pickax at this victim. He reportedly had a machete and a pitchfork with him also.
Later that night, between 9:26 and 11:07 p.m., a second victim was helping a friend pick up some personal items at the same spot the earlier incident took place, authorities said.

Campbell reportedly yelled at the second victim and a witness and then allegedly started to swing a metal object, KOLR-TV reported.
The victim tried to stop Campbell, and the pair got into a fight, officials said.

Officers again responded to the scene and Campbell exited the house. He had a head injury, which reportedly occurred when he fell down the porch stairs, according to KOLR-TV.
Campbell has been arrested and charged with littering, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, fourth-degree assault and armed criminal action in connection with the incidents on April 10, authorities said.
Records show that Campbell is also a registered sex offender.
