Two men in Missouri are in trouble with the law after they allegedly hid a body instead of reporting a woman’s death to authorities.

On May 5, Andrew Pierce woke up next to 18-year-old Mikayla Jones in a home in Potosi and discovered her dead. Rather than tell police, Pierce and Ethan Civey allegedly hatched a plan to get rid of Jones’ body.

According to authorities, the two men wrapped up Jones in a comforter, put her in the trunk of a car and eventually dumped her in a wooded area on the side of a highway, St. Louis’s KMOV reported.

Pierce and Civey then destroyed drug evidence and hid Jones’ possessions, court documents allege.

“There were admissions that were made by both individuals concerning various activity in covering up evidence that was at the scene or what potentially could have been evidence,” Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Chris Wynes said, according to FOX4.

Pierce and Civey both now face charges of one count of abandonment of a corpse and three counts of tampering with evidence. If found guilty, they could each spend up to 16 years in prison, the station reported.

Civey could face additional time behind bars since he is also charged with possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia after police allegedly found pills and a rolled-up bill with oxycodone residue in his possession when they arrested him on May 21.

Court documents show Pierce was involved with an overdose death in March 2021 and in June 2020 he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
