An Alabama mother, Adrienne Reid, 33, has been accused of murdering her two-year-old daughter and discarding her body in a dumpster. Reid was charged with capital murder and abuse of a corpse on March 9 for the alleged killing of Genesis Reid.

Genesis Reid was reported missing by Reid herself on February 16, at about 3 a.m. At the time, she claimed she could not find her daughter after the front door of her home was left open. However, authorities soon noticed inconsistencies in her story. On February 17, Reid was arrested for false reporting to law enforcement.

Adrienne Reid has been accused of murdering her two-year-old daughter and discarding her body in a dumpster.

The Enterprise Police Department later determined that the child was last seen on December 25, 2025. Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore said video recorded on a neighbor’s surveillance camera showed Reid dumping a duffel bag in her apartment complex at about 11:30 p.m. on December 25, 2025.

Detectives suspect the bag contained Genesis’s remains. “Through the careful and methodical work of investigators, we have reached the heartbreaking and horrific conclusion that her mother, her caretaker, the one that should have been there to keep her safe, willfully murdered Genesis and placed her in a duffel bag and discarded her in a dumpster,” Moore said in a statement.

According to police, two days later, Reid returned to the dumpster to discard toys and other items that likely belonged to her daughter. As the investigation continues, detectives are searching for Genesis’s body at a landfill.

Police analyzed truck schedules and GPS monitors on landfill equipment and determined that remains could be located at the Coffee County Landfill. Investigators have also consulted a team of experts from Atlanta to assist with the search.

However, Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd said the search is not going to be easy, and could take up to 10 weeks. “I need the public to understand that this will not be an easy or fast search,” Byrd said.

How Authorities Will Search for Genesis’ Remains

Tracking the remains is difficult because more than two months have passed since Reid allegedly dumped the body. Authorities will now use specialized equipment and modern techniques to search the landfill.

“The subject dumpster where the bag we are looking for was picked up on December 26. It was compacted in the truck that picked it up. It was taken to a distribution facility and compacted again. It was taken on another truck to the landfill, where it was processed further with bulldozers and a compacting machine,” Byrd said, talking about the tedious search process.

Meanwhile, prosecutors plan to demand the death penalty for Reid. “Her conduct speaks for itself, and I believe this preliminary decision to seek the death penalty conforms to our community’s beliefs about this case and our shared values about how we value and seek to protect the most innocent among us, our children,” Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox said in a statement.
