Deputies found a man being treated by EMS at the scene. He had been shot multiple times and died from his injuries.

The victim lived at the apartment complex, and officials said the mother of his child had come to the complex so she could pick up their child, according to authorities.

The mother’s new boyfriend accompanied her for the pickup and at some point, police believe the boyfriend and the baby’s father got into a fight, KRIV reported.

During the altercation, the new boyfriend allegedly shot the baby’s father, and the boyfriend and the woman then left the scene with her baby, officials said.
