Texas Man ‘Fixing To Make The Headlines’ Accused Of Killing At Game Room
A west Texas man reportedly announced plans for a shooting spree on Facebook, before he killed one person and wounded three others. But police may have ignored what he posted.
A grand jury in Lubbock indicted Jamie Lee Pruett, 49, Tuesday on one count of murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
That followed a federal indictment issued last week charging Pruett with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Authorities say Pruett opened fire at three locations south of Lubbock Monday, March 13.
“I am fixing to make the headlines right now,” Pruett reportedly declared in a Facebook Live video two days earlier.
Sheriff's deputies first found a man shot in the face at a home. Then authorities were called to a game room, where two men were shot. One of them, Christopher Rios, 32, died at a hospital.
Then Pruett reportedly drove a black Audi to a convenience store and shot someone else in the arm. That shooting may have involved Pruett's auto repair job.
Codie Payne said Pruett refused to return vehicles that he provided for repairs.
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports Pruett may have thrown his gun out of a car window, during a pursuit after the shootings which led to his arrest.
A woman who says she used to date Pruett claims she tried to warn authorities about the attack.
In an interview that aired Tuesday night, the unidentified woman told KCBD-TV that she watched the 40-minute Facebook video Pruett made, but a police officer declined to look at it.
“He said, ‘I don’t have 40 minutes to sit here and look at this video,'” the woman recalled. “I said, ‘I know you don’t, but if you could just look at tidbits of it.’”

The woman also said Pruett threatened to take her children and insulted her in front of her son. He later stole her security cameras, she added.
Pruett reportedly admitted to authorities that the woman punched him in the face.
Pruett also reportedly explained that he went on his rampage because of issues with the game room, including perceived threats from other customers.
For living up to his reported promise, Pruett is jailed on a $15 million bond.
