6-month-old taken to hospital with a severe head injury, mom arrested after baby dies: report

A mom is accused of killing her 6-month-old child who died earlier this month.

The Covington Police Department in Louisiana started to investigate the case on March 23 after a juvenile went to the emergency room with severe head trauma.

The baby was taken to another hospital for more advanced care, according to Covington police.

Investigators determined the injuries were caused by the victim’s mother Abisai Mejia-Gallo, according to Covington police. Though, police did not say how they believe the mom caused the injuries.

The victim died on March 26, police said.

A mom is accused of killing her 6-month-old child who died earlier this month.

That day the child died, Mejia-Gallo was arrested in New Orleans and charged with second-degree murder.
