A Brooklyn man shot and killed his child’s mother and her two daughters, then turned the gun on himself, police said.
One child survived the April 5 attack and called 911, according to reports.
It was the 9-year-old daughter of the 46-year-old man and 45-year-old woman who alerted police around 11:20 p.m. and told them about the shootings at a building in New York City, according to authorities.
When police arrived, they found the woman and her two daughters, 20 and 16, dead, police said. The two were not the man’s daughters, authorities said.
However, the 9-year-old girl was not injured in the bloodshed and was hiding when police arrived, according to media reports. She told them that her father shot her mother and sisters, police said.
Police said they found the shooter’s body in a walkway of a nearby building. He had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
The New York Post reported that a .38 revolver and a semi-automatic handgun were recovered from the alleged shooter and the spot where he was found dead.
New York City Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said officers “have the video of the incident where the individual then leaves and takes his own life a short distance away.”
Because of that, he said, “it appears to be domestic in nature at this point in time.”
At this time, police have not released the identities of the victims or the suspect.
