Nancy Guthrie Case: New Crime Scene Evidence May Be Key to Breakthrough, Journalist Says

Nancy Guthrie has been missing from her Arizona home since February 1.
The Nancy Guthrie disappearance case continues to be investigated, although no concrete leads have been discovered so far. The 83-year-old woman disappeared from her Arizona home in early February.
With the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) working jointly on the case, it is expected that Guthrie will be reunited with her family. Recently, NewsNation senior correspondent Brian Entin suggested that authorities have obtained strong evidence that could help the investigation.
Major DNA Breakthrough In Nancy Guthrie Case
Entin discussed the new evidence on his CW special show. He revealed it to be a rootless hair discovered at the crime scene, which has now been sent for forensic analysis in the FBI lab. If testing is successful, investigators could extract DNA traits that may lead to a possible suspect.
He said, “The latest real development is we confirmed that there was a rootless hair that has been sent to the FBI lab in Quantico for testing, which could be significant if they can figure out if there's any DNA on the hair that could trace back to a possible suspect.”
Abductor Suspect Likely Someone Nancy Guthrie Knew
The show also brought together several forensic and clinical experts who suggested another possibility in the disappearance. The profilers believe that the kidnapping of Guthrie was only possible because the suspect was someone she likely knew.
Criminologist Dr. Casey Jordan explained his perspective, stating, “This person knew her. I don’t think she knew this person … it could have been somebody who saw her on the Today Show with her daughter, Savannah.”
Another theory discussed in the case involves a masked man captured on Guthrie’s surveillance camera. Forensic nurse Dr. Ann Burgess noted that it is possible he was eliminated or killed by someone higher in authority, potentially a superior who may have attempted to remove evidence related to the case.
However, the investigating team has not indicated whether they believe that the kidnapping was carried out by only one person. There is no confirmation that authorities believe the masked man seen on camera was killed.
FBI Chief’s Controversial Statement Over Nancy Guthrie Case
FBI Director Kash Patel recently made a notable statement regarding the investigation. He claimed the initial hours after Guthrie’s disappearance were mishandled by the sheriff’s department. Patel added that the FBI was initially kept out of the case.
Speaking with Sean Hannity on his podcast, Patel stated, “The first 48 hours of anyone's disappearance are the most critical. For four days, we were kept out of the investigation. And when we were finally let in, Sean, look what we did.”
He further stated that it was only after the FBI became involved that the doorbell footage of the masked man was accessed. Patel said, “That's why you have that image, because the FBI worked with Google to put that image out.”
