New DNA evidence in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has been sent to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) lab for advanced testing, marking a key development in a case that has drawn national attention.

Senior correspondent Brian Entin reported the update on April 16, saying hair found inside Guthrie’s home are among the items now under review. He wrote on X that the evidence is being examined using more methods after earlier tests failed to produce clear answers.

Nancy Guthrie case revives as FBI investigates new key evidence.

Investigators say the case has shown signs of violence from the start. Inside the home, authorities found blood, a back door left open, and doorbell camera footage that appeared to be tampered with. The video showed a masked person near the entrance holding an object that looked like a gun.

Early DNA testing did not lead to a breakthrough. Gloves found about two miles away were tested, but a local restaurant worker linked to them was later cleared. Other samples either did not match profiles in the FBI’s national database or were mixed with DNA from an unknown person.

The latest testing follows earlier work done at a private lab in Florida. Officials say the FBI and other labs are now reviewing the same evidence together.

“This is not new information,” said the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in a statement, adding that the agency has worked with the FBI since the start. “DNA analysis remains ongoing and this investigation is active.”

Chris Nanos claimed that DNA analysis remains ongoing and the investigation is active.

Sheriff Chris Nanos has faced criticism over how the case was handled in its early days. He previously said the crime scene had been “opened,” raising concerns that key evidence may have been affected.

The case has also taken a new turn after a neighbor claimed to have seen someone fleeing Guthrie’s home, though officials have not confirmed that information.

As the search continues, the Guthrie family has offered a $1 million reward for information that could help find her.

Despite the renewed focus on DNA, experts say results may still take time. For now, investigators are relying on both forensic testing and public tips as they work to solve the case.

It has been almost eleven weeks since the incident, though no major revelations have been made.
