Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, has been missing for more than 70 days. Teams from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pima County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the disappearance of the 84-year-old. Authorities have said they are treating the case as a possible kidnapping but have not identified any concrete leads to locate her.

One of the earliest pieces of forensic evidence was blood spots found on the front porch of Nancy’s Arizona home. However, a retired FBI profiler recently said the evidence may not be conclusive.

Decoding Blood Spots Found Outside Nancy Guthrie’s Home

During a segment on NewsNation with Brian Entin, retired FBI profiler Jim Clemente offered a new perspective on the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. He said the preliminary blood spots examined by forensic teams on the front porch of her home were not intact and appeared to be smeared.

Clemente added that, after closely analyzing the crime scene video, he drew several conclusions. In his words, “This tells me a number of things, and it’s very specific. One is that … at this point, Nancy’s face was very close to the ground, within a foot of the ground. This could be she was either on her knees, hunched over, or actually lying on the ground.”

Continuing his observations, retired FBI profiler Jim Clemente said the blood on the porch was not in droplets but appeared spattered. He suggested this could occur when someone coughs up blood, causing it to spread in different directions. Because the blood marks stop after a certain point, Clemente said the victim, Nancy Guthrie, may have been carried the rest of the way by her abductor.

He explained, “Where that blood pattern disappears, I believe she was likely picked up and carried the rest of the way, perhaps with her face up so that there was no more blood deposited on that walkway.”

Nancy Guthrie’s Abductor Suspected To Be Alone

Jim Clemente also shared his insights on the suspect behind the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. He suggested that there may have been only one person involved. He said there was no indication of multiple sets of footprints around the blood marks on the porch.

Based on the crime scene evidence, Clemente said the suspect may have had a possible motive, but did not appear to have carried out the act in a sophisticated manner, while still leaving behind evidence.

Jim Clemente explained, “I do believe his motivation was strong enough that he carried this out even despite the fact that at some point she did not actually cooperate. There are things that he thought he did that were sophisticated, but they were not criminally sophisticated.”

In the meantime, the Guthrie family has maintained a $1 million reward for information that could help return Nancy Guthrie to her family.
