A source close to the investigation into Nancy Guthrie has revealed that there were no signs of an assault inside her Arizona home. According to the source, the residence was not only orderly but certain rooms were described as “immaculate.”

After blood was discovered outside the main door, questions arose about what investigators found inside the house. The source now says the interior appeared relatively normal.

Kurt Dabb, a former detective with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, told senior journalist Brian Entin: “I had heard that information from some of the deputies who had responded that the house wasn’t in shambles.”

He added, “I think these individuals felt comfortable being there. They were there for one thing and one thing only, it appears, and that was to take Nancy. Nothing else was disturbed.”

‘Nancy Guthrie Put Up A Fight Outside The House'

The 84-year-old was allegedly abducted from her Catalina Foothills home on February 1 after attending a family dinner the previous night.

When Brian Entin questioned why blood was found outside rather than inside, Dabb said: “If she was still ambulatory and being guided out of the house, whether or not her hands or her mouth were bound, she could have put up a little bit of struggle at the door, knowing that if she had to get out of here, it was her last chance.”

The law enforcement expert continued, “She might have gotten hit in the nose or head in that process, maybe with a fist or a weapon or an implement of some sort, because the blood spatter pattern that was in front of the door looked like bleeding from a head or nose wound.”

In a recent interview, Savannah Guthrie said she blames herself for her mother’s abduction.

Discussing how investigators approach a clean scene, Dabb added: “Just because the house isn’t in shambles, it doesn’t mean investigators are just going to bypass the house. They are still going to fingerprint it, DNA swab it, and photograph it.”

Commenting on Guthrie’s neighborhood, Dabb said the area appears to make it easy for someone to sneak around unnoticed.

“There are no street lights here, and I don't know how the moon was that night, but if you have a partial moon or no moon, it is dark. And if you’re not looking for something specifically, the chances of you seeing something are next to impossible,” he explained.

Addressing the doors at the back of the house being propped open, Dabb said the abduction appeared to be planned. He mentioned that the incident may have been orchestrated as a response to a situation involving Guthrie’s family.

Social Media Reactions

Social media users following the case shared their theories in the comments.

One individual wrote, “My guess has been that NG went to the porch to investigate after she saw activity notifications on the Nest phone app, and was ambushed at the door. Old folks are light sleepers.”

“So whatever happened, it didn’t start inside. That detail about “immaculate” rooms actually raises more questions than it answers,” another added.
