69-year-old man found dead in NC cemetery, teenager accused of murder
A 69-year-old man was found dead at a North Carolina cemetery, and now a teenager is being accused of murder.
On May 28, Raleigh police responded to Mount Olive Cemetery and found a seriously injured man, according to police and reported by various news outlets. The victim, identified as James Lacy Taylor, was declared dead at a nearby hospital.
Witnesses said they saw two men and a woman leaving the scene in a pickup truck and car, according to reports.
Police did not detail how the victim died.
On May 29, Raleigh police announced the arrest of Maria Elizabeth Pena-Echeverria, 18, and she is accused of murder in connection to Taylor’s death. She is being held at the Wake County Detention Center.
The Mount Olive Cemetery is located next to a forest managed by North Carolina State University. Campus police put out an alert about the incident after the man was found.
