A Firefighter Was Reported To Have A Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound. But Police Said It Was Murder And Arrested His Wife.
A woman is accused of murder in connection to the shooting death of her husband.
Last week, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina announced the arrest of Heather Hicks Auman, 37. She was charged in connection to the death of her husband, Michael James “MJ” Auman.
The victim was a firefighter with a local department.
On June 25, deputies responded to a Seagrove, North Carolina, home after someone called 911 to report a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators looked into the case and determined the wound was not self-inflicted.
A few days later, deputies arrested Heather Auman in connection to the case. Authorities did not disclose what led them to believe the case was a homicide.
She was charged with first-degree murder and booked in to a North Carolina jail.
