New York Mother’s Chilling Warnings to Neighbors About Daughter ‘Fighting Demons’ Before Fatal Tragedy

Neighbors say Olga Bracero warned that her daughter was "fighting demons" before the fatal murder-suicide.
A 59-year-old New York mother, Olga Bracero, who repeatedly sought help for her daughter’s worsening mental health struggles, was allegedly killed by the young woman before the daughter took her own life, according to authorities.
Bracero, a vegan chef, had reportedly become increasingly fearful of her 23-year-old daughter, Kayla Wilson, whose behavior changed dramatically following a family trip to Jamaica where she allegedly smoked “bad marijuana.”
Mom and daughter stabbed dead in apparent murder-suicide in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Neighbor Says Mother Repeatedly Sought Help
Neighbors said Bracero often described her daughter as “fighting demons” and repeatedly reached out for assistance.
Neighbor Deshawan Jackson described the mother and daughter as “good people” and said their lives changed after the Jamaica trip, according to the New York Post.
Jackson also called Bracero “just a beautiful, well-spoken person.”
“The mother told me that [Wilson] had smoked some bad marijuana and after that just wasn’t the same. “[Bracero] had called me and told me that ‘[Wilson is] fighting demons and they were telling her to do bad things, can you please come help me?’” he said.
Jackson said Wilson was allegedly suffering from schizophrenia and had been hospitalized multiple times. He recalled that she once told him “that the voices in her head are telling her to do it.”
“We ended up putting her in the hospital to get help; she was on medication,’’ Jackson said. “She was there for two weeks.”
A neighbor said that Kayla Wilson routinely walked around with a knife.
However, after Wilson was released, Bracero again reached out for help.
“The mother called me and said, ‘She’s walking around the house with a knife, can you please come get her?’”
Jackson's daughter, Chaasadahyah, said she saw Wilson wandering through the neighborhood days before the tragedy. “I saw her two days ago, just walking, totally zoned out, not listening to music or nothing. She was just walking here in the street. I saw her by the supermarket,” the 27-year-old said.

Authorities Say Daughter Fatally Stabbed Mother Before Taking Her Own Life
Authorities said deputies responded to the pair’s residence at about 8 p.m. on May 30 after receiving reports of an unresponsive woman.
Inside the home, investigators discovered the bodies of Bracero and Wilson, both suffering from apparent stab wounds. Authorities believe Wilson fatally stabbed her mother before turning the knife on herself.
The incident occurred in a building at 386 Second St. that was also the site of another murder-suicide two years earlier.
In January 2024, cook Jason Jackson fatally shot his partner, financial planner Olga Kirshenbaum, before taking his own life.
“This building has a curse on it,” neighbor Christine Doyle, 58, told The Post on May 31.
Friends say woman who killed mother, then self, in Park Slope apartment struggled with mental illness.
Remembering Bracero, Doyle said, “She was so sweet, she really was.”
Chaasadahyah said Bracero and Wilson had no other family nearby and had become close to the Jackson family.
“She loved my family,” Chaasadahyah said. “We went to a restaurant here for her birthday party. She was basically part of the family.”
Jackson said the tragedy left him devastated.
“You never thought this would happen.”
“I broke down. I cried,” he said. “It hit hard. It hit really hard.”
