The final batch of the Epstein Files, released by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) on January 30, included an email that has drawn significant attention. The email was allegedly written by Melania Trump and sent to Jeffrey Epstein’s girlfriend and associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.
The message dates to October 2002, over two years before Melania Trump's wedding to Donald Trump. At the time, Epstein and Maxwell had not been publicly identified as child traffickers and s— offenders.
Melania Trump’s Alleged Email to Ghislaine Maxwell
Melania addressed Maxwell as ‘Dear G’ and referenced a "New York Magazine" feature about Epstein.
In the email, Melania addressed Maxwell as ‘Dear G’ and referenced a "New York Magazine" feature about Epstein. The article focused on the financier’s luxurious life and mentioned Maxwell several times.
The email read, “Dear G! Nice story about JE [Jeffrey Epstein] in NY mag. You look great on the picture.” Melania Trump also asked Maxwell to meet her in New York once she gets free from her travel.
“I know you are very busy flying all over the world. How was Palm Beach? I cannot wait to go down. Give me a call when you are back in NY. Have a great time!” the email said, followed by the sign off, “Love, Melania.”
The documents also include Maxwell’s alleged reply. In the response, Maxwell addressed Melania as ‘sweet pea’ and said scheduling conflicts prevented a meeting.
The response read, “Sweet pea - thanks for your message. Actually plans changed again and I am now on my way back to NY. I leave again on Fri so I still do not think I have time to see you sadly. I will try and call though.”
Melania Has Not Been Acussed of Any Wrongdoing
The First Lady has not publicly commented on the release of the email. Neither Melania Trump nor Donald Trump have been accused of wrongdoing related to Epstein. Donald Trump maintained a social relationship with Epstein until the early 2000s.
During that period, Melania Trump was photographed with Maxwell multiple times, including at an event at Mar-a-Lago. Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that he was unaware of Epstein's crimes during their association that lasted till mid 2000s.
Epstein was first convicted in 2008 on charges related to procuring a minor for prostitution. Multiple victims later came forward, and he was arrested again in 2019. Epstein died in federal custody in 2019, and authorities ruled the death as suicide.
Maxwell was convicted in 2021 of trafficking a minor and sentenced to 20 years in prison. The release of the Epstein Files, ordered by Congress, has renewed public attention on Epstein and Maxwell.
The Justice Department said it released more than 3.5 million documents related to Epstein. Critics, however, said earlier estimates suggested more than 6 million files existed. The department denied allegations that officials redacted information to protect political figures.
