68-Year-Old Accused Of Murder In Killing of Mom, Son In North Carolina

A 68-year-old man is behind bars and accused of murder in connection to a double homicide in North Carolina, police said.

On May 18, Julie Smith and Miles Brewington were found dead behind their apartment in Hope Mills, North Carolina. The two were victims of a homicide, though police have not said how they were killed.

Smith was Brewington’s mom.

This week, Hope Mills police announced the arrest of Rodney McCrary, 68, in connection to the case. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree kidnapping and concealing or failure to report a death.

Investigators have not released a motive in the case.

McCrary is being held in a North Carolina jail without bond.
