The woman at the center of a love triangle in New York City was killed after her jealous ex-lover allegedly shot her in the head during a confrontation, which also resulted in injuries to his romantic rival, according to authorities.

Around 5:30 p.m. on July 20, Jasmine Figueroa, 38, died at Kings County Hospital, almost 14 hours after the pre-dawn shooting in Brooklyn, according to the New York Daily News.

The shooter, a 50-year-old man who was celebrating his birthday and reportedly the father of Fiegueroa’s four daughters, killed himself with a gunshot to the head on the stoop of his own home, the Daily News reported.

Moments before taking his own life, he shot Figueroa and a 44-year-old man, who is recovering at Kings County from wounds to his abdomen and leg, officials said.

A relative told the Daily News, “It was a love triangle and it got the best of him. They were childhood friends and then they fell for the same woman. She was going back and forth, from one to the other.”

A neighbor, who asked not to be named, was awoken by the arguing and witnessed the incident. She said the gunman shot the younger man in his GMC Yukon, with Figueroa then trying to bargain for her life as he demanded the keys to the vehicle, the Daily News reported.

The witness said the shooter “took two steps back and he shot her.” She said, “He shot her once in the leg and then he shot her again. She doubled over and grabbed her thigh. She went down,” the Daily News reported.

She said she thought it was over, but then “he shot her in the head” and then “walked away. He wasn’t running away. He walked across the street, and that’s when he took his own life,” according to the Daily News.
