This month, an Ohio judge sentenced Lionel Justin Gore to life in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated murder. He confessed to killing his mother, Diane Gore, in November 2021, according to WKRC.

Prosecutors said Lionel and Diane got into an argument with three young relatives in the house. The kids were told to play hide and seek while Lionel killed Diane.

Lionel also told police to get out of the way or he would kill them as he crashed into two police cruisers trying to flee, WKRC reported.

Lionel tried to tell police that Gore was not his mom and that he was adopted.

He also admitted cutting her head off and said, “he killed Diane because the Holy Spirit told him to as she was the devil,” according to the report.

During the sentencing hearing, members of Diane’s family addressed Lionel. One said that the victim feared her son would kill her, and she was now proven right.

“I have had more anxiety attacks in the last 11 months than I’ve had any other time in my life. Having someone you loved murdered changes you. It changes you deeply and permanently,” one family member said, according to WTAP.
