Watkins was subjected to several threats from his fellow prisoners while serving his sentence. Many wanted to deliver their own form of justice to the p---phile. However, it was Rashid who was accused of killing him by slitting his throat.
In his final remark to Welsh rockstar Gedel, he said, "If I'm going to do life for murder, I'm going to make sure it's worth it.”
Watkins pleaded guilty to 13 offenses including three counts of s--ual assault involving children, seven involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme image involving a s-- act on an animal.
He was incarcerated at HMP Wakefield, the highest-security prison in Britain, for his heinous crimes. While he was serving his sentence, Gedel and another prisoner, Samuel Dodsworth, teamed up to kill him.

Gedel Said It Was ‘God’ Who Killed Watkins In Prison
Gedel said 'Good night' to Watkins after killing him
Gedel was accused of slitting Watkins’ throat three times. The disgraced singer died from catastrophic bleeding and a subsequent cardiac arrest in the hospital. According to reports, Gedel passed his cell after being detained by guards. He reportedly uttered, “Have a good night’s sleep, Watkins lad.”
Before committing the crime, he told a prison guard that he “could be talking to someone famous.” He also claimed that it was ‘God’ who inflicted the fatal injuries on him. He also admitted to being jealous of how “nonce prisoners” were “treated like royalty.”
Gedel and Dodsworth both denied the murder charges and the charges of possessing an offensive weapon in prison. About Watkins, prosecutors Tom Storey said, “There are some criminal offenses that are so heinous that they defy belief; these include the more extreme examples of child s-- offenses."
He added, “There are those who perhaps believe that the punishments meted out by our courts upon people who commit such offenses do not go far enough. But we have not had the death penalty in this country since 1965, and when we did, it was reserved for offenses of murder and treason.”
Storey said, “Nevertheless, because of the particular stigma that attaches to those who commit child s-- offenses, even when they are sentenced to decades in prison for their crimes, they remain targets for those who take the view that their punishment is not severe enough, that imprisonment is somehow too good for them. And on occasion, some people decide simply to take the law into their own hands and to enact their own form of punishment upon such offenders.”
