Meanwhile, just days before, Anna’s husband, Anthony Manning, and his mother, Barbara Manning, were taken into custody in connection with the case. Both were indicted on May 19, 2026, according to a Facebook post from the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a newspaper article from 1995, Anthony turned himself in after Anna reported about him trying to kidnap her. In the complaint, she stated that he allegedly arrived at her apartment with their daughter. Then, he handcuffed Anna and led her out the back door. She managed to escape to a neighbor’s home and quickly contacted the police. According to the NamUS database, Anthony served 192 days in jail.

In 2016, authorities searched the property at 148 Spring Valley Road. However, nothing was found at that time. Following the arrests, a new search warrant was obtained. Public works crews, Emergency Management, and the Boyle County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene to search the 5-acre property.

It remains unclear whether the remains recovered belong to Anna.
