Remains Found From Property Linked To Kentucky Woman Who Went Missing Over 30 Years Ago

According to the authorities, human remains have been discovered on a property linked to a woman who has been missing for 34 years. Anna Manning disappeared when she was only 23 years old. For more than three decades, her case remained a mystery in Kentucky. The discovery comes days after her husband’s arrest.
According to local outlet WKYT, after the remains were discovered, investigators believe that they are now closer to the answers than ever. The outlet reported that the remains were found on a property in Boyle County. In a statement, the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office said that the remains will be sent to a forensic laboratory for examination and identification.
Authorities are yet to confirm more about the discovery as the investigation is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, just days before, Anna’s husband, Anthony Manning, and his mother, Barbara Manning, were taken into custody in connection with the case. Both were indicted on May 19, 2026, according to a Facebook post from the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office.
Anthony now faces the charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse. Meanwhile, Barbara was charged with complicity to murder, complicity to tampering with physical evidence, and complicity to abuse of a corpse.
Both are being held in the Boyle County Detention Center on $2 million cash bonds. Their arrests led to renewed attention on the case of Anna Manning.
Anna was last seen on November 19, 1992, in Junction City, Kentucky. According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, she was only 23 years old at the time. Despite her last sighting being in 1992, she was reported missing on February 25, 1994, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

According to a newspaper article from 1995, Anthony turned himself in after Anna reported about him trying to kidnap her. In the complaint, she stated that he allegedly arrived at her apartment with their daughter. Then, he handcuffed Anna and led her out the back door. She managed to escape to a neighbor’s home and quickly contacted the police. According to the NamUS database, Anthony served 192 days in jail.
In 2016, authorities searched the property at 148 Spring Valley Road. However, nothing was found at that time. Following the arrests, a new search warrant was obtained. Public works crews, Emergency Management, and the Boyle County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene to search the 5-acre property.
It remains unclear whether the remains recovered belong to Anna.
